READ THE MAP WITH CONTEXT

Measured. Aggregated. Imperfect.

These are real, crowdsourced Speedtest measurements from Ookla’s public quarterly dataset, retrieved 11 October 2026. Coverage spans Indonesia from Aceh to Papua. Source tile centers are filtered against the geoBoundaries Indonesia national boundary (2017 reference geometry) before aggregation; neighboring countries are excluded.

What each hexagon means

Each source tile is assigned once by its center to an H3 resolution-5 cell. Speeds and latency are weighted by the number of tests. H3 cells average about 253 km² globally—49 times the area of the earlier grid; boundaries are approximate and do not increase the source’s roughly 600 m precision. Labels use a nearby reference city within 80 km, or the cell’s coordinates. They do not define administrative boundaries. Large cells can mix urban and rural measurements; coastal hexagons may extend across water or borders while using only Indonesian source tiles.

Finding a location

Place search uses Photon and OpenStreetMap. Queries are sent only when you press Search; coordinates are handled locally. Search coverage depends on mapped place names. The pin identifies the search result, while measurements describe its containing regional cell. A result can be found even when the cell has no suitable measurements.

The AI component

Unsupervised k-means learns four connection profiles for each network type from download, upload, and latency. It uses standardized log-transformed values across both quarters, and only cells with at least 50 tests. Profile descriptions use observed medians. This is exploratory machine learning, not a performance prediction or an LLM chat.

What the data cannot tell us

No ISP rankings, household guarantees, outage history, packet loss, or hour-by-hour performance. Fixed-network tests are collected on mobile devices using non-cellular connections, so Wi-Fi conditions can affect them. More tests do not necessarily mean more independent users or representative coverage. Period changes can reflect changes in who tested. Blank cells mean insufficient or absent measurements.

At least 50 tests is a display heuristic, not a statistical confidence interval. Nationwide coverage does not mean every area has measurements. Boundary filtering uses source-tile centers; coastal and border-cell results may be partial.
